Guide Questions:-

How does the Implicit Association Test work? What is it designed to ‘measure’?

– How does the test relate to the concepts in Modules 22 and 23? Briefly discuss at least two concepts from each chapter. Use direct quotes from the modules to strengthen your discussion. In particular quote relevant definitions directly from the book.

– How does the IAT relate to concepts and principles discussed in the class this semester? What connections do you see between how the IAT works and the course’s central themes (for example, the limits of self-knowledge, the dual processing model of the mind, the intensely social nature of our species, the notion that ‘evolution made us for culture’, or the idea of the power of the situation)?

-How can these tests be useful? How have they been used? (look it up!)

-Could the IAT offer a window into the human mind in general? How? Why? Please elaborate.

– What was the experience like for you? What did it make you think or feel? (Remember that you do not have to reveal the outcome of your test).

-Finally, if you could design your own IAT test, what would you like to find out?
